A total of 11,410.28 metric tons of waste were discarded by the residents in 2019: of which 5,008.25 metric tons are residual wastes; 3,543.98 are biodegradable wastes and 2, 743.73 metric tons are recyclable wastes.<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Residual waste refers to the materials that are non-compostable and non-recyclable. Such treatment can include agricultural, industrial and mining. These wastes cannot be recycled, re-used or composted that it should be disposed ecologically through a long-term disposal facility or sanitary landfill.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Biodegradable wastes, on the other hand, are compostable wastes such as food waste, garden waste, animal waste and human waste. These wastes undergo composting method of disposal that generates (soil conditioner or organic fertilizer) by mixing them with soil and water. Lastly, recyclable wastes are materials that can still be converted into suitable beneficial use like newspaper, office paper, glass, plastics and metals like tin cans.\u00a0<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carmonagov.net\/mhome\/images\/EcologicalProfile\/EnvironmentManagement\/1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"585\" data-path=\"local-images:\/EcologicalProfile\/EnvironmentManagement\/1.jpg\" \/><\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The graph above shows the total volume of waste for the last three (3) years. Increasing volume of waste generation in the municipality was observed due to the increasing number of population. \u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In 2019, a total of 11,410.28 metric tons of waste have been discarded composed of residual, recyclable, biodegradable and other wastes. Residual waste accumulated a total of 5,008.25 metric tons, the highest among the three types of wastes produced by the residents in the municipality. These residual wastes mostly came from industrial, agricultural and mining industries which greatly contribute to the over-all volume of waste.
