\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The table above shows the Inventory for Volume of Waste in the municipality of Carmona classified in three types of waste disposal namely\u00a0residual, biodegradable and recyclable wastes\u00a0<\/em>for the past seven years. A total of 11,410.28 metric tons of waste were discarded by the residents in 2019: of which 5,008.25 metric tons are residual wastes; 3,543.98 are biodegradable wastes and 2, 743.73 metric tons are recyclable wastes.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Residual waste refers to the materials that are non-compostable and non-recyclable. Such treatment can include agricultural, industrial and mining. These wastes cannot be recycled, re-used or composted that it should be disposed ecologically through a long-term disposal facility or sanitary landfill.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Biodegradable wastes, on the other hand, are compostable wastes such as food waste, garden waste, animal waste and human waste. These wastes undergo composting method of disposal that generates (soil conditioner or organic fertilizer) by mixing them with soil and water. Lastly, recyclable wastes are materials that can still be converted into suitable beneficial use like newspaper, office paper, glass, plastics and metals like tin cans.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The graph above shows the total volume of waste for the last three (3) years. Increasing volume of waste generation in the municipality was observed due to the increasing number of population. \u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In 2019, a total of 11,410.28 metric tons of waste have been discarded composed of residual, recyclable, biodegradable and other wastes. Residual waste accumulated a total of 5,008.25 metric tons, the highest among the three types of wastes produced by the residents in the municipality. These residual wastes mostly came from industrial, agricultural and mining industries which greatly contribute to the over-all volume of waste. Biodegradables wastes followed with 3, 543.98 metric tons and recyclable waste with 2,743.73 metric tons.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The table above shows the type of garbage collection and how it is being collected. According to the data gathered from CBMS 2017-2018, a total of 96.55% or 23, 483 households have their garbage collected by the municipal, barangay, private and other garbage collector; 19, 662 households segregate their garbage and 8, 648 households are recycling their waste. Nevertheless, some households resort to burning, composting, and dumping to open and closed pit and other means of waste management.<\/p>

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMS<\/u><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Solid Waste Management Plan 2015-2024- After its conditional approval in 2013, the LGU-Carmona\u2019s 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan 2015-2024 has been finally approved by virtue of National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) Resolution No. 182, Series of 2015 dated March 31, 2015.<\/p>

<\/p>

International Coastal Clean Up Month\u00a0<\/p>

<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In celebration of the International Coastal Clean-up Month for 2019, the MENRO in cooperation with the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation conducted a community and river clean up on September 21, 2019. Participated by a total of 179 individuals, the cleanup was able to collect a total of 43 sacks of wastes; of which 373 kg are mixed wastes and 750 kilograms are yard trimmings.<\/p>

EcoBag ni Mayor Loyola<\/p>

<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0As part of the continuing implementation of the Municipal Ordinance No. 004-09 also known as the Selective Plastic Ban and Ecobag Ordinance, a total of 5,938 monitoring and inspections of commercial establishments were carried out in 2019. Out of this, 27 citation tickets under Municipal Order 004-09 were issued. Such establishments were included in the MENRO Negative List. \u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In 2019, 120 Palawan Cherry Blossom saplings were planted at Carmona Elementary School, Carmona National High School, and Angelo Levardo Loyola Senior High School.
