LGU conducts PWD Community-based Rehabilitation Orientation

Community Based RehabilitationSeptember 13. The Local Government through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and the Persons with Disabilities Coordinating Office held the Orientation on Community-based Rehabilitation Program at the Municipal Hall Penthouse where different stakeholders attended with the shared goal of empowering adult PWDs in Carmona.

DSWD Region IV-A officials, Ms. Cefronia Majuelo, SMO II and Ms. Lucia Cabiles – Almeda, SOC Technology Head facilitated the lecture about each sector’s duties and responsibilities in the Community-based Rehabilitation Program.

During the orientation, the Community-based Rehabilitation program’s inclusion in the Social Development Plan, anchored in the proposed Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (P.D.A.O.), was discussed with the stakeholders and Sangguniang Bayan members, particularly its planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and funding. The passing of an ordinance that ensures the program’s development, management and coordination of service delivery was also tackled during the said activity.  

Basically, the Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR) program is the counterpart of the center-based program offered in PWDCO inside the Carmona Elementary School. The CBR Program offers health, education, livelihood and social services right at the barangays and doorstep of the community-based PWDs.

The CBR orientation was organized by MSWD Officer Ms. Carmen Sarita and PWDCO Focal Person Ms. Rosebelle Mercurio with the aid of the MSWD and Community Affairs staff. Among the participants were SB members Hon. Elmer Reyes, Hon. Domingo Tenedero, DILG-MLGOO Ms. Alona Poblete, MHO Dr. Homer Aguinaldo, PESO Manager Mr. Edwin Tolentino, MPDC Ms. Mildred Purificacion, Mun. Engr. Fedelino Mapanoo, Budget Officer Mr. Domingo Flores, Mun. Accountant Ms. Mylene Ledesma, Mun. Treasurer Ms. Edwina Ledesma, Mun. Assessor Mr. Edgardo De Guzman, Carmona PNP Chief PCI Armandy Dimabuyu, DepEd Carmona District Supervisor Dr. Editha Atendido, CES  Principal Ms. Amelita Buenavente, CNHS Principal Mr. Jovito Mercado, Rotary Club of Carmona President Mr. Edison Sarmiento, SNKCI Federation President Ms. Julia Diago, Barangay Captains, BHW and PTA representatives and 4K parents, officers and members.
