     The Public Employment Service Office or PESO is a multi-service facility that was established to provide information and assistance to DOLE clients and constituents of local government units (LGU’s). It makes available under one roof the various employment programs and services of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to enable all types of clientele to know more about them and to provide assistance on employment and income opportunities or other specific assistance needed.


WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF PESO?

General Objective:


  • Ensure the prompt, timely and efficient delivery of employment service and provision of information on  the other DOLE programs.


Specific Objectives:
  • Provide a venue where people could explore simultaneously various employment options and actually seek assistance in pursuit of their chosen field;
  • To maximize the impact of various employment programs & services by ensuring their speedy and efficient delivery;
  • Provide clients with adequate information on employment and labor market situation;
  • Enhancing  more quality in the provision of employment opportunities


WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS OF THE PESO?

1Encourage employers to submit to the PESO on a regular basis a list of job vacancies in their respective establishments in order to facilitate the exchange of labor market information services to job seekers and employers by providing employment services to job seeker, both for local and overseas employment, and recruitment assistance to employers;

2Develop and administer testing and evaluation instruments for effective job selection, training and counseling;

3Provide persons with entrepreneurship qualities access to the various livelihood and self-employment programs offered by both government and non-governmental organizations at the provincial/city/municipal/barangay levels by undertaking referrals for such programs;

4Undertake employability enhancement trainings/seminar for jobseekers as well as those would like to change career or enhance their employability. This function is presently supervised by TESDA and conducted by other training;

5Provide employment and occupational counseling, career guidance, mass motivation and values development activities;

6Conduct pre-employment counseling and orientation to prospective local and overseas workers;


WHAT ARE THE SPECIAL SERVICES OF PESO?

1Jobs Fairs –is an employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants.

2Livelihood/Self-Employment  Program - these will give clients information on the array of livelihood programs they choose to avail of.

3Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) - this program shall endeavor to provide employment to deserving students coming from poor families during summer and/or Christmas vacations as provided for under Republic Act No. 7323 and its implementing rules, to enable them to pursue their education;

4Kasama Ka, Kabataan,  – it is an apprenticeship program for the Out-of-School Youth which aims to help the students/youth to be developed and be given the opportunity  for job preparation as skilled worker.

5Career Guidance for Graduating High School Students (CIGT) –  a program intended for graduating highschool students to help them choosing a career in college based on their abilities and capabilities.

6Phil-Jobnet – is an automated job and applicant matching system which aims to fast-track jobseekers search for jobs and employers search for manpower. It can be accessed thru www.phil-job.net.

7Municipal Manpower Registry of Skills (NMRS) - is a repository of computerized information on available manpower and their corresponding skills.
